MAN RELEASED ON BAIL AFTER WOMAN HOSPITALISED FOLLOWING ASSAULT

July 9, 2012

A man was remanded on bail today following an incident in which a woman was attacked and hospitalised.

Marcus Spratt, 29, was accused of attacking his former partner at their home at Aras Ui Domhnaill in Milford, Co Donegal in the early hours of Sunday morning last.

No details of the alleged attack were given in court.

Spratt was also accused of assaulting two men close to his home around the same time.

Letterkenny District Court judge Paul Kelly was also told that there had been an outstanding bench warrant for Spratt’s arrest.

The accused man, wearing a grey striped jumper and jeans, smiled when he was given bail with a number of conditions.

He was ordered to sign on at Milford Garda Station three times a week and to observe a curfew between 9pm and 9am.

He was also warned not to make any contact with the two men he is alleged to have assaulted or with his ex-partner.

He was given permission to have telephone contact with the woman but only to discuss access to his children.

Judge Kelly adjourned until September.

Meanwhile on Sunday a woman was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital after she had allegedly been doused in petrol and threatened.

The woman’s condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
