THIS is the schoolboy whose tragic death has caused heartbreak across Co Donegal.
Young Jamie Toner was killed in a farm accident on Saturday afternoon in Glenvar, Kerrykeel.
The 11 year old from Churchill was rushed by the emergency services to Letterkenny General Hospital but lost his fight for life.
Jamie, whose was moving into sixth class at Stramore National School in Glendowan, was a popular and bubbly lad.
There were heart-breaking scenes as relatives gathered for Sunday morning mass at St Colmcille’s Church in Glendowan.
The tightly-knit community expressed their sympathy to the boy’s extended family as the impact of the tragedy was brought home.
Little Jamie’s remains are expected to be released from Letterkenny General Hospital later today and brought to the family home at Cruckraw, Churchill.
His parents Roisin and James and older sister Lynn were last night being comforted by friends an family.
An investigation into Jamie’s death is being carried out by the Health and Safety Authority.
Local county councillor Ciaran Brogan said the entire community were shocked by young Jamie’s death.
“Jamie was a lovely lad and he couldn’t but be because of the family he came from. It’s just a terrible tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with them now,” he said.Tags:
