GAA NEWS: TERMON GAA CLUB NOTES

Best of luck to Michael Boyle, Jim, Rory and the entire Donegal squad who compete in the Ulster final this Sunday against Down in Clones this Sunday. Heres hoping we will have back to back Ulster titles to celebrate for the first time in Donegals history.

Minor Board

The Termon GAA community was once again thrown into a state of shock and sadness on Saturday evening as the terrible news broke of the tragic death of Jamie Toner. We cannot imagine the despair of his parents James and Roisin and his older sister Lynn at the loss of such a wonderful young son and brother. Jamie only joined us in the past few years and yet made a lasting impression on the boys who were fortunate enough to play with him on last year’s U12 team and even more so with those who got to coach him. His endless enthusiasm and desire to become the best he could defied his young age. Little did we think we would have him with us for such a short time and how we wish we could once again turn back time. Our deepest sympathies go to his Parents, sister, extended family as well as his classmates in Stramore N.S. who will have a huge void in their school life when they return in September.

Thanks to all who assisted with the U8 blitz at The Burn Road on Saturday morning. Fanad and St Eunans proved to be popular guests with players and parents alike enjoying the games. Well done to Paddy and David on the great work with this bunch of stars of the future. Special thanks to Joe Mc Cusker and Conor Murray, our two young whistlers who did a magnificent job and to all the mothers for the great spread of food . This Saturday our U8s travel to St Nauls for a series of games. The boys and girls are looking forward to this, their “tour” for 2012 and we hope to see all our U8s in attendance. The bus will depart from the Burn Road at 9.40 and return by 3pm. Any queries contact Paddy on 087 2175234. Pack a rain coat for your child just in case!

This weeks planned u10 Blitz has been postponed and coaching will take place as usual at 10.30am on Saturday morning. U6 boys and girls, U10 boys and girls and U12 girls coaching at 10.30am at the Burn Road.

The u14 Championship game will take place on Monday next 23rd at 7.30 at the Burn Road. Best of luck to Bernard, Paul and Pauric and all the boys. Come along on Monday evening and show this team your support.

The u12 season came to an end in Buncrana on Saturday morning. The As suffered a defeat at the hands of the host club but the Bs recorded another great victory. Thanks to all the boys for their commitment and high quality entertainment they offered during the year and a huge thanks to PJ, Andy and Brendan for all their time and efforts.

Ladies Board:

The u12 girls completed their season with a blitz away in Glenswilly. The club would like to thank the girls for all their effort during the year and to Lisa McGlynn who managed the team and Petra, Orlaith, Anne and Dara who helped throughout the year.

Commiserations to the 5 Termon girls who represented Donegal in the Ulster final on Sunday. Sadly on the day Monaghan proved too strong.

Mens Board:

Our senior and reserves take on Muff this Saturday evening in another crucial league encounter at the Burn Road. Throw in at 6 and 7.30 respectively.

Next Tuesday the 24th our u21s take on Carndonagh at the Burn Road at 7.30. Good luck to the boys and hopefully as many people as possible will come out to support the team.

Termon GAA 5k:

The club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped in any way to organise and run the 5k last Thursday evening. The race/walk was a great success and we hope to make this an annual event in the future. Who knew we had so many budding athletes in our midst!
