BREAKING NEWS: THERE are reports of flooding on a number of roads in Co Donegal tonight after persistent rain all day got heavier after dark.
A weather warning has been issued for the North West for persistent and heavy rain, particularly over counties Donegal and Derry.
Gardai are appealing for motorists to drastically reduce their speed, especially on rural roads.
There are reports of flooding on roads around Letterkenny, Milford, Gaoth Dobhair, Lifford, Buncrana, Moville, Ramelton and St Johnston.
Met Eireann says the rain will subside on Wednesday, particularly in the morning, with a risk of more heavy showers in the afternoon.
Thursday is looking better with Friday and Saturday expected to be dry and sunny.
