THERE was stranding room only at Donegal County Council HQ tonight as Ireland’s soccer manager Giovanni Trapattoni addressed the council.

The Italian thanked the people of Donegal for hosting this week’s annual meetings of the Football Association of Ireland.

Ireland hero Ray Houghton and FAI boss John Delaney, who have toured clubs all over the county this week, were among the special guests of Mayor Frank McBrearty.

Houghton posed for pictures with local schoolchildren who were invited to the event.

As did Trap’s No2 Marco Tardelli.

Said Mayor McBrearty: “It was a fantastic event; superb for County Donegal.”
