A COVENT which has been run in Buncrana for more than 90 years is to close with the remaining nuns being moved to Derry.
The Sisters of Mercy confirmed to donegaldaily.com that they are to end their ministry in the seaside town.
The building will be sold and the last remaining nuns in the order will relocate to Thornhill.
It’s understood the increased costs of maintaining as well as a lack of vocations led to the decision.
A second building in Buncrana run by the Loreto order as a retirement retreat centre is also being sold.
