STAFF SHOCKED AS AIB ANNOUNCE BANK CLOSURES ACROSS DONEGAL

BREAKING NEWS: Staff at AIB across Donegal have been left devastated this morning after the bank announced it was closing dozens of branches across the country.

Donegal Daily understands that workers in Donegal were told of the pending bank closures this morning.

A number of branches across the county are set to close as part of the shape-up including Falcarragh, Raphoe, Dunfanaghy, Gaoth Dobhair, Lifford, Moville, Bundoran and Milford.

It is unclear yet as to how many jobs will be lost as part of the cost-cutting measures.

The closures come just months after a voluntary redundancy package was offered to AIB staff across the country.

It is believed that the deal was over-subscribed and not everyone who applied for redundancy packages got them.

One AIB staff member in Donegal told us “We were told earlier this morning but were asked not to mention it until after 10am.

“We’re not sure how it will hit people here but there will be closures of several banks across Donegal and that’s not good news.”

The news has been confirmed by AIB head office.
