EUROPEAN Champion sausage makers – the McGettigans from Donegal Town – were special guests tonight on RTE with Miriam O’Callaghan.
Ernan and Diarmuid McGettigan cooked up a feast of sausages for members of Miriam’s TV show audience.
Diarmuid was doing all the cooking – as Ernan introduced Miriam to the range of sausage flavours including ‘chocolate and chilli’, ‘lamb with rosemary and plum’ and ‘mango and banana’.
Miriam praised the brothers for their achievement in being crowned European Champs earlier this year.
Ernan told her of how they received their highest honour from an elite French gourmet brotherhood, when they are ‘knighted’ and inducted into their exclusive order in May.
Eight French guardians of the ‘Commanderie des Fins Goustiers du Duce d’Alencon’ travelled from their base in Normandy to Ireland for the ceremony.
And the verdict from the TV audience tonight?????……superb!
