Lagan Harps 3  Raphoe Reserves 1

Lagan Harps were victorious in the final of the Tullyvinney Rovers Summer Cup played at Crossroads Park.

A strong Lagan team started brightly in this game and when the Raphoe keeper Rory McElroy misjudged a cross Lagan player Conor Sweeney scored from close range. After fifteen minutes Lagan found themselves 2-0 up when Lawrence Toland scored with a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty box.

As the game progressed Raphoe improved with Niall Cooke up front and Conor Carlin proving a handful for the Lagan defense. The score was 2-0 at half time.

Raphoe started to dominate in periods of the second half creating numerous chances but the Lagan keeper Shaun Defan proved to beat. In the sixty-fifth minute Raphoe were awarded a penalty but Jason McGrinder’s spot kick was well saved by the outstretched leg of the young Lagan keeper.

Eventually Conor Carlin scored for the Raphoe side in the seventy-ninth minute. Five minutes later Lagan sealed the victory when Lawrence Toland scored his second goal of the game when he coolly rounded the advancing keeper to tap home from close range.

The club would like to thank Ronan Floyd who was referee for the tournament and the fourteen teams who took part.
