DETERMINED DENIS ARRIVES HOME TO A HUGE WELCOME AFTER MARATHON CYCLE

A Donegal grandfather has successfully completed a marathon cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head and raised €14,000 in the process for Donegal Cancer Support Services.

Denis Doherty, 68, from Gleneely, received a huge reception when he arrived at Bamba’s Crown around 5pm last Friday.

Needless to say a party then followed in Docs Bar where entertainment was provided by his granchildren all of who sang or played instruments to the delighted grangfather of 20.

Denis said he was totally overwelmed by the response he recieved by people all over the country on their venture and on his return home on Friday.

They have to-date raised over €14,000 and money is still coming in. Anyone still wishing to donate can do so by contacting him on 9367179 or donations can also be made online through paypal donegalcancerservices@gmail.com.

This has been a remarkable achievement and one in which Denis is only delighted to have done in honour of the outstanding services he recieved during his ordeal with cancer a few years back.

He also holds in high regard the support given to him throughout the trip by his son Michael and son-in-law Shane who cycled with him and his daughter Breda and Brother Michael who provided their essential supports throughout the journey. Breda was also instrumental in the level of funds raised in this campaign.
