WACKY WEATHER! HAIL AND SLEET HITS DONEGAL AS SUMMER ARRIVES!

Donegal was hit by showers of hail and sleet today as wacky weather struck the county once more.

It may be the height of the summer but that didn’t stop freezing sheets of ice from falling from the sky.

Donegal Daily readers from Clonmany to Convoy contacted us to say their areas were hit by showers of ice.

One reader from Mindoran sent us this picture (right).

And she told us “The sky went very dark and suddenly the ground began to be pelted with hailstones.

“They were up to about 5 mms in diameter and the shower lasted for about fifteen minutes.

“It was mad to see this kind of thing in the middle of July when we should be enjoying some of out best weather,” she said.

Another reader from Dunfanaghy revealed how several parts of Horn head was covered in sheets of heavy hail.

If you have any pictures of the freaky weather in your area then send them to info@donegaldaily.com

We’re just looking forward to getting the suntan lotion and shorts ready for January!
