The mild dry weather of open week at Otway seems like a long time ago, but here we are in August and it’s cup time again. This Sunday the 5th it’s time for the Ferguson Cup, a single stroke competition. As the Open week results weren’t published last week, the following is a list of winners and runners up. Tuesday 17th Noel Kiernan took firet, with Eamonn O’Kane second, Chuck McTaggart took the gross, and Denis Friel in third. Wednesday’s 3 ball scramble was won by Noel Fisher, Paul Murray and Pat McNulty, with Gerard Dorrian, Denis Friel and Anthony McFadden in second place. Thursday’s single stableford was won by Brendan Gallagher, Pat McNulty in second, Noel Fisher taking gross and Paul Murray in third. Friday’s 3 ball rumble was won again by Brendan Gallagher, Pat McNulty and Martin O’Reilly. Saturday’s 3 ball scramble’s winners were Sidney and Sam Anderson and James Lynch, followed in second place by the team of Dan and Mark Canning and Charlie Patton. Sunday’s single stroke winner was Noel Fisher, with Paul Murray in second and Pat McNulty in third, with Chuck McTaggart taking the gross, again. Last but not least was the Golfer of the Week prize, won with great skill, or pure luck, by club Captain Noel Kiernan, who took great pleasure in presenting all the prizes, including his own, to winners in a packed clubhouse on the final night.
