A Donegal politician has slammed RTE after claiming the state broadcaster is ignoring his county.
County councillor Martin Farren has said he is not surprised that RTE has decided not to show his county’s crunch All Ireland GAA game with Kerry at Croke Park on Sunday.
He claims it is the latest in a series of snubs to Donegal in recent weeks and months.
Cllr Farren raised the issue at county council level and the local authority has now agreed to contact RTE over the matter.
“They could have chosen the Donegal/Kerry game as it is regarded by almost everyone as the game of the round.
“It’s an example of the arrogance of RTE. Donegal is a very large county and it deserves a lot more respect than it is getting from RTE at the present time.
“I am very annoyed about this especially as when it comes to paying our TV license we are very much in demand.
“I am delighted that Donegal County Council has taken it on board to look into this particular issue,” he said.
He said other major events including the Clipper Challenge sailing race and the North West Fiddle Convention were not covered at all by RTE.
