Donegal 1-4 Kerry 0-5 A pulsating if not clinical first half has seen Donegal put it up to favourites Kerry at Croke Park.
They may be against the purists of the GAA but ‘puke’ football still might yet have a say in this year’s All Ireland semi-finals.
Donegal have looked strong but have been let down by some sloppy balls into the forward line which Kerry’s defence have hovered up.
Kieran Donaghy and Colm Cooper have yet to open up but still look dangerous.
Donegal were given the perfect start with a somewhat fortunate goal form the sideline and raced to a 0-5 to 0-1 lead early on.
Kerry gradually came back into the game as the Donegal defence gave their men a little too much space.
That Donegal defence did straighten up towards the close of the half to frustrate Kerry who shot at least two wides.
The danger of the Donaghy/Cooper combination was evident with just a minute of the first half left when Cooper stole in for a point from close range with a shot on goal a strong possibility.
Colm McFadden converted a stunning free kick to make it 0-7 to 0-5 and when Paddy McBrearty was taken down, Michael Murphy just failed to convert.
Donegal are two points ahead with it all to play for.
