DONEGALDAILY.COM COMMENT: Two weeks ago when Tyrone were sent crashing out of the Championship in Killarney, something remarkable happened.
More than 500 Kerry fans waited after the game to applaud the Tyrone team and management as they boarded their coach for home.
As the Tyrone team bus wound its way through the streets of Killarney, Kerry fans lined the route to applaud them.
Today in the Cusack Stand at Croke Park, Kerry fans warmly congratulated the Donegal fans around them.
Many stayed on to applaud the Donegal team doing their brief ‘warm down’. And they clapped loudly.
Others turned to their nearest Donegal fans and shook hands and embraced.
“We’ll be right behind you from now on,” said one Kerry woman as she wished Donegal the best.
It was our day today at Croke Park – a proud and historic day for Donegal Gaelic Games.
But it was made all the more special by the sporting honour of the Kerry fans who were there today.
From the Donegal fans who witnessed that today – we say ‘Go raibh milé maith agaibh.’
