On a great evening at dry Arch park there was a fantastic football match played by Local supporters of both Manchester United and Liverpool to raise money for a great charity – the Crumlin Hospital cardiac unit.
Liverpool supporters reckon it will be 4-1 to them when the real sides meet next month in the EPL!
The teams were led out by ref Paul Doherty and his brothers as officials and the little mascots Bailey Cody and Cory.
When the match got underway it was a cracker, in the surprisingly hot temperatures there was great football been played by both teams, United went in at half time 2-1 with a double from Bonagee United’s Greg Magee followed by Anthony Doherty pulling 1 back before the break – three great goals you would see on a Saturday night on Match of the Day!
The sun had gone down a bit when the 2nd half kicked off but the game was still played at a good pace, United took a 3-1 lead with a great leap from Lagan’s Declan Sweeney with a delightful cross from Stephen Mc Connell from the left.
Man United had taken control of the game by this stage and Marcus Oliver got on the end of a deflected shot to control and tuck in a fourth to give them the bragging rights til next season.
Referee Paul Doherty awarded Greg Magee Man of the match afterwards.There was a Quiz afterwards at Arena 7 that was also a success, with prize’s Kindly donated by business’s all over town to help the cause. Quiz master Brian Harkin did a great job ensuring the Quiz went well.

Both Organisers Marcus and Derek would give special thanks to Bonagee for use of brilliant facilities and Arena 7 for hostin quiz and supplyin food, Also Jonathan Foley with McGinley’s Bar who hosted a Quiz on tuesday night for Crumlin hospital.
