JOE IS THE COMEBACK KID AS LAST MINUTE VOTES SEND HIM TO COMMUNITY CHAMPION FINAL!

A MASSIVE surge in votes has landed a Donegal man in the final of the Calor Community Champion competition.

Well-known Donegal photographer and scout leader (and all ‘round good guy!) Joe Boland has already been named Donegal Community Champion because of all his good work with the scout movement.

The Lifford man is a finalist in the Calor Community Champion for his selfless work across the community.

Joe was involved in an online voting battle with other nominees to get through to the final stage with a chance to win cash for Donegal charities.

By 10pm last night he was lying in 4th place.

But a surge in votes on facebook – thanks to his friends and family – took him into pole position at midnight when voting closed.

And Joe won by just 47 votes!

“I am deeply humbled,” said Joe, “I just want to thank everyone who voted for me online.”

Joe is now in the final six – and faces a grilling by celebrity DJ Hector O’Heochagain.

The winner will be announced on September 4 – with Joe promising to give thousands of euro away to local charities if he wins.
