Letterkenny Youth Information Centre, which is managed by the Donegal Youth Service, will host an information workshop for young people leaving home for the first time next week.
The workshop will take place in their Port Road premises on Tuesday 28th August at 7pm.
The workshop will offer advice on health, keeping safe, financial and budgeting advice, finding accommodation, tenants rights and how to make the most out of college.
Youth Information Officer, Martin Keeney, says Youth Information Centre staff will also be at hand to take whatever queries or questions you may have on the evening.
“Often so much emphasis is put on the Leaving Cert results and CAO offers that little thought is given to preparing students for what can be a difficult experience. This event offers young people and their parents the chance to come along, ask questions and begin to prepare properly for the experiences that lie ahead,” he said.
A 65-page booklet produced by the Roscommon Youth Information Centre, entitled “Flying the Coop”, will also be available full of advice on all these areas, including tenants rights, useful contacts and advice for those going on to study in Ireland, Northern Ireland or the UK.
