GARDA INVESTIGATION AFTER FIVE CHILDREN ASSAULTED IN PARK

A Letterkenny mother has claimed that a gang of young tearaways are terrorising other children at a local park.

The mother contacted Donegal Daily after her 12 year old son was punched in the face and his friends also assaulted by the gang at Ballymacool Park this afternoon.

The outraged woman said she contacted Gardai in Letterkenny who said they could not send a car as they had none available.

However when the woman told Gardai what had happened, they claimed they could not do anything about the incident as the attackers were juveniles.

The woman told us that she has spoken to a number of other parents at the park who said such attacks and intimidation are now common-place at the park.

She said she is outraged that Gardai did not follow-up her complaint and visit the homes of the alleged attackers.

“I simply do not think that enough is being done about this.

“I told the Gardai who I believe was responsible for the attack. I spoke to these youths and they admitted it

“They even told me where the ball was which they stole from my son and I recovered it

“I have spoken to other parents and they have told me that there have been several complaints made against the same group.

“Something needs to be done about this before some child is seriously hurt,” she said.
