A Taste of Donegal Food Festival which opened in Donegal Town on Friday evening has been hailed as a tremendous success with figures showing crowds up 50% on previous years.

Speaking on the success of the festival chairperson Ernan McGettigan said it has suprpassed all their expectations.

“We have over 100 exhibitors and they have put on a fabulous show over the last two days. I have met people from all over the UK and Ireland who travelled to Donegal for this event.

“The crowds have exceeded expectations and the trend is set to continue today with screens erected in the marquee to faciliate the Donegal game. We are hoping to share the success in Donegal today.”

As with all successful events, crowds mean traffic and the committee thank everyone for their patience. They would also like to acknowledge the volunteers who are contributing to the success of the festival.

A Taste of Donegal Food Festival continues today from 11am -7pm Adm €2 adult, €1child. Today’s line up includes cookery demonstrations by Neven Maguire, Catherine Fulvio, Joe Shannon, Anthony Armstrong and a Wine Appreciation by Richard Finney, The Wine Buff.

The festival concludes with The Whacky Chefs Dance tonight at 9pm Adm €5
