DISCOVERY OF ILLEGAL DUMP IN BUNDORAN

Bundoran Sinn Féin Town Councillor Diarmaid Doherty has called for action after the discovery of an illegal dump site.

Cllr Doherty said he was disgusted by the discovery of the materials which looked like it came form a house renovation.

“A trailer, possibly a horse box emptied a large quantity of black bags, carpets, doors and garden waste, blocking this beautiful county road.

“It is outrageous to think that somebody would consider it acceptable to have a good clean up around their own home only to dump the waste in a public area for local people to clean up.

“This is a problem which has increased significantly over the past few months and, with the recent closure of the nearby landfill site, I am concerned that illegal dumping incidents will continue.

“I would ask local people to remain vigilant on this matter and report any incidents of illegal dumping to the Environmental Department of Donegal County Council.

The town councillor said he was now calling on Donegal County Council to take action to make it clear to the public that illegal dumping will not be accepted.

He said the Council should consider No Dumping signs and CCTV to deter people from further illegal dumping.
