Naomh Conaill were last night crowned Donegal Og sport champions after defeating Naomh Mhuire (Convoy), Na Rossa and host club Gaoth Doire at the finals this evening.

Proceedings were started with wins by Naomh Conaill and Gaoth Doire over Convoy and Na Rossa respectively.

The second round saw the same two teams achieve similar results setting up a cracking final between Naomh Conaill and their hosts.

The final started with a cracking fisted score from Maitis Mac Ceallabhui followed by the score of the game a goal from Kieran Gallagher.

Darragh and Naoise O Baoill kept Gaoth Doire in touch with good points leaving the half time score Gaoth Doire 0-4 Naomh Conaill 1-4. With the wind in their backs Naomh Conaill found the net through captain Ethan O Donnell.

Further goals from Eoin mc Gettigan and Jeaic Mac Ceallbhui left Gaoth Doire with a mountain to climb. Naomh Conaill eventually won 5-9 to 0-5 and Maitis mac Ceallabhui accepted the Cup on behalf of the Naomh Conaill men and thanked both hosts and referees for their efforts.

A jubilant crowd led by chairman Peter Mc Kelvey and minor board secretary Martin Shanky Smyth met the team on their return to Glenties.

Naomh Conaill now go forward to represent their club and county at the Ulster Final of Og Sport in Stewartstown Co Tyrone Saturday 8th of September.
