Illegal dumping is being blamed for an invasion of rats on Magheraroarty beach.

Locals say the issue has become one of major concerns in recent weeks.

The issue has been raised at the latest meeting of Glenties Electoral area.

It has been decided that rodent control measures will be used to tackle the rats.

One local said she used to love walking in the area but was now afraid to after coming across a number of rats while out walking one morning.
