FRUSTRATION AS DONEGAL BUILDING SUPPLIERS CLOSES ITS DOORS

One of Donegal’s biggest building suppliers has closed its doors.

McMahon’s of Ballyraine, Letterkenny fininshed trading last Thursday.

The company had previously traded as James Johnston and Sons but was bought out by the McMahon Group a number of years ago.

It is understood a number of jobs have been lost as a result of the closure.

The company says that it will continue to trade at its branch in Derry and that all existing customers will have any contracts honoured.

It is understood the company in Letterkenny has suffered as a result of the downturn in the building trade for some time.

One building source told Donegal Daily that stock in the shop has been at a minimum for a number of months.

“It’s a pity because Johnston’s were a hugely respected business and McMahons took up where they left off.

“Unfortunately this is just a knock-on from the recession,” he said.
