Rosapenna’s run of team success continued at the weekend when they claimed both the Donegal Senior Scratch Matchplay title and the Donegal Junior Scratch Matchplay title becoming the first club to ever win both titles in the one year.

On Saturday the Senior team took on Strabane Golf Club at home and after only winning two matches from seven away they needed a clear 6 matches from 7 at home to win the tie outright and they duly delivered on the day winning 6-1 against a strong Strabane side in tough conditions.

Well done to the team captain Seamus Connor and his team including Enda Kennedy, Donal Boyce, Frank Casey Jnr, Marty McDermott, Con Boyce, Barry Connor, Pat Boyce & Kieran Logue.

Rosapenna have now won the Donegal Senior title four times in the past six years (2007, ’09, ’10 & ’12) beating Strabane G.C in the final each year.

On Sunday it was the Junior team who took on Letterkenny Golf Club at home and after a better away result than the Senior team (winning 3 from 7) they had to win five clear matches to win the tie outright on the day.

With a few early victories from Barry Connor & Denis McBride the tie looked to be in Rosapenna’s favour.

Kieran Logue was 1 down playing the last but won the hole to go to tie holes where he would eventually lose but when John Casey, Pete McBride Jnr and Johnny Sweeney all won their matches behind the title went to Rosapenna.

Well done to team captain Joe McHugh and his panel of players that also included John Boyce, Marty Carlin, Mick Gallagher Jnr, Louis Boyce & Pat Boyce.
