He has millions of fans around the globe and now Daniel O’Donnell wants them all to come home to Donegal for The Gathering.

The singer, who meets and greets Donegal fans from Australia to America each year, wants to make 2013 a huge party back home.

He revealed “It’s no secret that I love Donegal, in 2013 I would like to invite all my fans to come and share in my love of Ireland.

“It is going to be a very special year with a packed calendar of entertainment.”

Paddy Harte, Chairman for the Donegal Gathering, said it is a great honour to have Daniel O’Donnell supporting the Gathering.

“His international stature and profile is world renowned and our plans for the coming year can only improve by having his support.”

And he added “The Gathering 2013 is a people’s project. It’s about you, your family, your neighbours, your community, your sports club, your town and county. This is your chance to showcase the very best of Donegal by organising a special event and inviting people to Donegal to be part of it.”

Over the last month five community meetings have taken place around the county aimed at generating ideas for gatherings of various kinds to coincide with The Gathering 2013.

These meetings were a resounding success with many exciting ideas being put forward by the local community. A big thank you to all who took part!

The Gathering website has 26 events already planned for Donegal which is the fifth largest in Ireland to date, and this number is continuing to rise!

Anyone can list an event, clan gathering, festival, charity event, reunion or any other idea that you feel that would make a great event in 2013 by logging onto www.thegatheringireland.com and submitting the details.
