LIVERPOOL Football Club has refused to confirm or deny speculation that manager Brendan Rodgers wants Donegal boss Jim McGuinness to join the club.
The Glenties man is reportedly wanted by the England’s most successful club as their new sports psychologist.
Rodgers is a huge admirer of McGuinness and was impressed with his role in taking Donegal to our first All-Ireland in 20 years.
But when asked to comment if Jim had been offered a position at the club, a spokesman refused to comment.
They would neither confirm nor deny the claim.
Donegal county chairman PJ McGowan has already said he would be surprised if such a move was on.
But sources have told Donegal Daily that there is a possibility of McGuinness working part-time for Liverpool in his professional capacity as well as continuing his role for Donegal.
“That’s what Jim does for a living and if a team like Liverpool want to hire him for his services, then of course he would look at it,” said one source.
“Some people seem to think that Jim’s work for Donegal is his job when it’s not.
“He’s always up for a challenge and he would be mad to turn down Liverpool if they came calling.”
Liverpool’s refusal to comment will only add to the speculation however.
