More than 3,000 secondary school pupils from across Donegal are to be given a short, sharp shock when they attend the Road Safety Road Show.
The pupils will be given a rare insight into the consequences of dangerous driving on our roads at the show at the Aura Centre in Letterkenny tomorrow (TUES) and Wednesday.
Among the real-life show, organised by Donegal County Council and the Donegal Road Safety Working Group, will be a first-hand account from a road crash victim.
The objective of the Show is to encourage young drivers, and those about to commence their driving career to adopt a more responsible attitude in terms of their own driving behaviour.
The consequences should they fail to do so will be clearly and graphically demonstrated by depicting how a night out ends in tragedy and a permanent disability for one young driver.
The show features a series of presentations from representatives of the local Emergency Services, a doctor based within the Casualty Department in Letterkenny General Hospital.
A young man who was involved in a horrific traffic collision some years ago will also be participating to tell his own story.
Highland Radio will provide the backdrop and commentary for the show.
Road Safety Officer with Donegal County Council, Eamon Browne said the show has been an invaluable part of the road safety message among young people.
