THE FORECASTERS have agreed that Donegal and most of the North West is set for a long settled period of mild weather.
Temperatures could rise as high as 15C by midweek.
But the same forecasters are divided over whether or not a cold blast of winter is set to hit the northern half of Ireland next weekend….bringing the first blast of winter.
Met Eireann will only say that colder weather COULD be here by next weekend, but won’t go any further.
BBC Northern Ireland meanwhile says it will “turn very cold by next weekend.”
However forecasters in Britain are insisting snow is on the way.
They say temperatures will suffer from an Arctic plunge later in the week with snow in North by Friday – according to the Weather Outlook, WeatherOnline and British Weather Services.
The Met Office claimed it was ‘too early’ to assess the snow risk – but confirmed colder air would push nights close to freezing in the North.
However they admit the snow will be on higher ground and unlikely to cause disruption.
The past few days have been very mild with temperatures on Sunday hitting 14c across Donegal.
The mild weather is set to continue until Thursday at least, with bright sunny spells by day – with much colder temperatures by night.
