LEADING JUDGE PLEADS WITH DONEGAL GAA TEAM TO SET EXAMPLE ON ROADS

October 23, 2012

A leading judge has appealed to the Donegal All-Ireland winning GAA team to set a good example to young drivers on the road.

Judge John O’Hagan congratulated the team when he sat at Letterkenny Circuit Court today.

Judge O’Hagan said the win will give the county a huge lift and that members of the team are now icons.

But he pleaded with them to set an example on the roads to encourage all young drivers to drive safely.

“These young heroes of County Donegal – the manager and the team are now icons within the county and will be talked about.

“They are an example to all people in the county. But I would like them to take under their belts to impress upon the people of Co Donegal that to drive on the road in a privilege for which they have a license.

“It’s a message I have tried to send out many, many times,” he said.

Judge O’Hagan said he experienced the joy of Louth winning the All-Ireland for a solitary time in 1957.

“It’s a tremendously uplifting experience and makes everyone glow for a time while Sam is here,” he said.
