Senator Jimmy Harte says he hopes the Donegal economy will receive a significant boost at the start of November as it plays host to the Oireachtas Arts Festival from 31 October to 4 November.

Failte Ireland has already indicated that accommodation in the Letterkenny area and its environs is limited as over 10,000 people are expected to descend on the town.

TG4 will be providing live coverage of the Steip sean-nós dancing competition, while Otv, the dedicated online Oireachtas festival channel, will show highlights of various events portraying the spirit and essence of the Oireachtas Festival and RTÉ Radio na Gaeltachta will be broadcasting live throughout the Festival.

Donegal Senator Jimmy Harte has said he is delighted that the Oireachtas have decided to return to Letterkenny, after it previously hosted the Festival in 2009.

Senator Harte noted that, events such as this and the Gathering in 2013 are vital to the Donegal economy and in particular to the local tourism industry.
