SNOW JOKE AS FIRST SIGNS OF FREEZING WINTER ARRIVE IN DONEGAL

People woke to the first signs that Donegal could be in for a harsh winter as the first snow appeared across the county.

Both Mount Errigal and Muckish were capped in snow as hills across West Donegal were also covered.

And with the forecast set for plunging temperatures, more snow and sleet is forecast.

Walkers Dion and Mandy Jackson and Fiona Mannion had travelled from Belfast to climb Mount Errigal and were delighted to be greeted by a layer of snow

And Ireland’s most famous amateur weatherman Michael Gallagher said there was plenty more of the white stuff to come

The postman from nearby Glenfin recently warned there was a 99% chance we would have snow before Christmas.

“That’s only a taste of what is to come sooner rather than later.

“We’ll have a few falls of snow before Christmas, I’m still stick by that prediction. “It might not be as heavy as it was two years ago but we’ll have plenty of snow,” he said.
