ERIN’S DEATH: MAYOR APPEALS FOR CALM AFTER HOUSE ATTACKS

GARDAI are investigating two incidents of intimidation against a family following the suicide of bully victim Erin Gallagher.

The 13-year-old Co Donegal schoolgirl died last Saturday. The incidents have led to a public appeal for calm from Mayor Frank McBrearty.

There are claims Erin was being physically and psychologically bullied by other teenage girls in the Ballybofey and Stranorlar areas.

But on Wednesday night a gang attacked the home of another teenage girl in the area.

The poured paint over a family car before painting slogans referring to Erin’s death at the front of the house.

Gardai are also investigating a second incident of intimidation at the rear of the same house on Thursday night.

“Tension in the area is extremely high,” admitted one reliable source.

“It’s just rising by the day and rather than calming down it has gotten a lot worse since Erin’s burial on Wednesday.'”

Gardai have put extra officers on patrol as a result of the threats.
Pupils are due to return to Erin’s school – Finn Valley College – on Monday for the first time since her death.

The HSE has offered nine counsellors to the school to deal with the aftermath of the death.

The Mayor Frank McBrearty has issued a public appeal for calm.

“Everyone must allow the authorities to complete their investigations,” he said.

“I would appeal for calm in the Twin Towns and call for an immediate end to any such incidents.”
