COUNTY BOARD: ‘WE DIDN’T BREACH CROKE PARK RULES WITH FINAL TICKETS RAFFLE’

THE GAA has asked the Donegal County Board to explain how it handled the sale of tickets for the All-Ireland Final.

Chairman PJ McGowan insisted the sale of raffle tickets along with the distribution of final tickets by the clubs wasn’t compulsory.

And he revealed that not all clubs took part in the raffle.

He also revealed that the clubs got to keep most of the money from their sale.

“As I’ve said before we had this draw running for a long time before we reached the All-Ireland final but obviously there was a push on at the time of the final to sell extra tickets but we were just looking for a fiver back on a book of three raffle tickets,” he tells today’s Irish Times.

“So the club got to keep €10. Maybe the timing of the distribution of both created confusion.”
