PHOTOCOPIER FIRE SPARKS EVACUATION AT ST CONAL’S HOSPITAL

BREAKING NEWS: Staff at the the dental department at St Conal’s Hospital in Letterkenny have been allowed to return to the building after it was evacuated because of a fire.

Donegal Daily has learned that the hospital was evacuated just before 11am after a fire broke out in the building.

It is believed a photocopier caught fire setting off fire alarms throughout the building.

A number of staff were forced to leave the building as two units of the nearby Letterkenny Fire Service rushed to the scene.

There are no reports of any injuries.

A member of staff said staff were evacuated as a matter fo precaution.

“We were told the fire was brought under control very quickly but a number of staff and patents were evacuated as a precaution.

“Staff are back in now but the room in which the fire broke out with the photocopier is still sealed off,” she said.
