DRIVING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS…….IN CASTLEFINN!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas………in Castlefinn!

That’s because award-winning Castlefinn Partnership Initiative Ltd have announced details of a new project ensuring that Christmas in the Northwest will be a magical one this year.

The voluntary community group has launched Northwest Christmas Wonderland – a magical Christmas family experience opening on 30th November and running right through until 23rd December.

Based at the CPI Complex Castlefinn, Northwest Christmas Wonderland will feature Santa’s Grotto, storytelling with Mrs. Claus, Rudolph the Reindeer, a Christmas market, Christmas lights’ display, live animal crib, carol singers, children’s disco, face painting and Christmas hamper hunts and lots more.

Speaking after their National Pride of Place Award at the weekend for Project Manager, Michael Carlin says, “firstly we are thrilled with a National Pride of Place Award the first time that Donegal has won first place, which comes on the back of a very successful Northwest Garden Show. This once again proves that the community sector is a vital part of life in Ireland making a significant contribution to the local economy.”

Asked how Northwest Christmas Wonderland came about, Michael says “it is part of creating legacy projects at the CPI Complex and ensuring our sustainability.

“It is hoped that we can create long-lasting projects for the Northwest that entertain and engage audiences but also sustain the future of CPI Ltd. We are a voluntary community group and we are self-financing so we have to develop projects to keep us alive.

“The Northwest Christmas Wonderland, the Northwest Garden Show and the White House Garden are all projects to attract people to the Northwest benefitting our local economy. With the gathering coming up next year we hope to bring as many 50,000 to 70,000 people from all over Europe and America to the Northwest to experience what we have in Ireland and in particular Donegal”

Could this be the snowy scene in Castlefinn this Christmas?

Since setting up their facebook page two weeks ago, almost 3,000 people have ‘liked’ the page. A website set up to sell tickets has experienced huge interest also.

Tickets are priced €8 with family tickets also available. Tickets are being sold online only.

Full opening hours and ticket prices are available from www.nwchristmaswonderland.com and also on facebook at Donegal Christmas Wonderland.
