Portsalon Golf Club

 

Winter Links

The next outing of the Portsalon Winter Links takes place on Saturday 10th November. Winter Links members are reminded to book their tee time for each outing. If you unable to play on the day please ensure that your name is removed for the time sheet, thus allowing someone else a place in this prestigious event.

 

 

New Members

Time is running out if you wish to avail of the special opportunity for new members to join Portsalon Golf Club and enjoy two months free golf. All you have to do is make your application pay your fees for 2013 and get November and December 2012 free. Alternatively you can sign up and pay by instalments (Direct Debit only) of €50 for 10 months or €240 per month for November and December. For further information please contact 074 9159459.

 

Events

On Saturday 10th the Portsalon Winter Links will be staged. On Sunday 11th a members competition, and on Wednesday14th a gents open stableford competition. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions contact 0749159459 or go online to portsalongolfclub.com.

 

Gaeltacht League

Portsalon’s Gaeltacht League team entertained Cruit Island golf club on Saturday last. Playing in bluster weather conditions the home team came away with seven matches to Cruit Island’s one match. Best score on the day went to Stephen Connollly and Pascal Cullen, runners up Rory Kenney and Chris Williams. With two matches played the Portsalon team have 24 points.

 

Results

On Saturday last the winner of the open competition was club captain D P Logue playing off a 5 handicap with 38 points. Runner up was Michael White (17) 35 points. THE css was 34 points. On Sunday the weather improved and Giles Kilpatrick was the winner of the member’s competition with 42 points, runner up Stewart Nicholl (27) 38 points, gross D P Logue (5) 32 points third Ronan Mc Ateer (27) 37 points. The CSS WAS 37 points. The winner of the Wednesday open was Joe Coyle (8) 39 points B.O.T. Runner Up: Don Ponsonby (Letterkenny) 3 9 points Gross: Shaun Kelly (Portsalon) (8) 31 points Third: Giles Kilpatrick (Portsalon) (18) 37 points.

To have one hole in one in any week is a rare event, on Wednesday last Yuel Blair recorded a hole-in-one on the par three 5th hole. This was followed up on Sunday last when club Captain D P Logue recorded a hole in one at the same hole.

 

 

Local Rule-Stakes and Ropes

All members and visitors are reminded that a local rule is in operation regarding the identified areas surrounding our greens. This is an action taken to protect the areas surrounding the greens.

 

 

Placing

As from Wednesday 1ST October six inch placing on all fairways only was introduced at Portsalon Golf Club.

 

 

 

Portsalon Book

Sean Mc Cormack is currently gathering information for the next edition of the Portsalon Book. If you have any old photographs or stories of interest please forward to Sean.

 

On Line Booking

Members and visitors to Portsalon Golf Club should note that on line booking is now available for all competitions at Portsalon at the flick of a button go to portsalongolfclub.com

 

Booking Tee Times

Members are reminded that if they have booked a tee time or for another member , if either is not going to play on the day they should contact the clubhouse or go online and make the correction to the time sheet. On a number of occasions members have booked times and have not turned up, this is causing problems for members who wish to play and cannot due to the full time sheet.

Members Note

Members should note that all away scores should be recorded in the away scores book in the clubhouse

 

Divot Bags

Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
