Donegal County Council has been commended for three projects that were shortlisted in the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards at this years ceremony which was held in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.
Projects shortlisted included the One Donegal Cultural Diversity Month which received a commendation under the Festival of the Year category, the Donegal Gathering which was commended under the Supporting Tourism category and Donegal Fire Service’s response to the gorse fires in May 2011 under the Outstanding Customer Service category.
Speaking after the Awards ceremony, Garry Martin, Director of Finance said that Donegal County Council is delighted to have these projects commended by the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards.
“These awards provide a great opportunity to showcase the diverse range of services, activities and supports that local authorities, including Donegal County Council deliver and the key role that we play in the development of both the local economy and the local community.
“To receive this endorsement and recognition is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and members of Donegal County Council as well as the various community and voluntary groups and organisations that work with us on a day to day basis to the deliver services to the people of Donegal”.
