SWILLY GROUP DON’T NEED ANY ‘COACHING’ FOR LATEST CHALLENGE

Well-known Donegal company, the Swilly Group, has been chosen to find Ireland’s Coach Driver of the Year.

The company’s latest project follows just days after it scooped the Excellence in Marketing award 2012 at last week’s Letterkenny Chamber awards.

As Ireland’s leading Transport Training company The Swilly Group were something of an obvious choice to run the inaugural Irish Coach Driver of the Year competition at the Campion Insurance Coach and Bus Show at the RDS in Dublin on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November.

The show is a biannual event setup and run by the Coach Tourism & Transport Council (CTTC) a body representing Ireland’s leading Bus & Coach Operators.

The event will identify Ireland’s most professional Bus/Coach Driver and crown them with the Martin Guilfoyle Memorial Trophy as sponsored by Bernard Kavanagh & Sons Ltd of Urlingford, Co Kilkenny.

Martin was one of Ireland’s leading coach tour drivers, winning a special award from Failte Ireland for his professionalism. Martin died tragically a year ago this week in a work place accident.

Despite delivering training and consultancy services on a daily basis to bus and truck operators throughout Ireland and the UK on a daily basis, it is still a daunting task to run such a prestigious event.

Damian Kerin, Sales & Operations Manager at The Swilly Group, remarked “We have been working on this event closely with the CTTC over the last few months and hopefully all that work will be justified this weekend”.

Entrants will take part in a Theory Test and a short interview before completing a gruelling driver skills test.

The Swilly Group have enlisted the help of Davy Jackson, Senior Driving Examiner with global road safety organisation RoSPA to assist on the interview panel.

Pat D’Arcy, Senior Driving Test Supervisor with the RSA will act as Head Scorekeeper on the event. Damian added, “The fact such respected figures as Pat and Davy were willing to help out goes to show just how big this event is!”
