The Ulster Secondary Schools Swimming competition was held in Ballymena over the weekend and Loreto, Letterkenny did extremely well.

The school was represented by: Senior: Emma Harvey, Niamh McHugh, Intermediate: Ellen Doherty and Junior: Emma Vaughan, Sarah Duffy, Cliodhna McHugh, Chloe Tinney, Georgia Keys, Meabh Rafferty, Alison Dowling, Emma Tinney, Dearbhla McDermott, Hannah McMenamin, Cora Bond and Shauna McFadden.

All swimmers swam well with quite a number of swimmers achieveing new PB’s.

On Friday evening Emma Harvey qualified for the finals of the 100metres back whilst on Saturday pride of place went to Emma Vaughan.

Emma got a bronze medal in both the 100m breast and 100m IM and thus qualified to travel to Ternerife with the Ulster Secondary Schools team at Halloween.

This was the first swimming competition for quite a number of these young swimmers and this experience should be of great benefit to them in the future.
