A CO DONEGAL school is being praised today for tackling bullies head-on with a week-long programme of events.

Deele College in Raphoe brought students together to discuss the issue before their parents and teachers joined them in signing an anti-bullying charter.

The move comes after several recent suicides by young girls in Donegal, Leitrim and Kildare.

Teacher Tara Friel today praised pupils for their hard work during their Anti-Bullying Week.

“Throughout the week students from all years and across all subjects carried out activities based on anti bullying with their teachers,” said Tara.

“These included hands of friendship, bricks against bullying and posters raising awaremenss to name a few.

“All our first and second year students attended an anti bullying talk given by Pat Mc Glynn, the Juvenile Liason Officer,” she told Donegal Daily.

Ms Friel said all the students filled out a Bullying survey in which they were asked their opinions on how to raise awarweness around the area of bullying.

All these activities culminated on Friday afternoon when all students, teachers, parents representitives signed the Deele College Anti Bullying Charter which had been designed by the students themselves.

While signing the charter students were also given an opportunity to examine all the fabulous artwork which was displayed in the General Purpose Area.
