LETTERKENNY LOOKING TO FEATURE THEIR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON RTE!

November 28, 2012

RTE are looking for a local town who are promoting local shopping and Letterkenny Chamber is using the Christmas lights switch on event to showcase what a great town Letterkenny is.

The event will be recorded and sent to RTE so the more retailers and public involved the better.

The Chamber has asked shops to get involved with the event by giving out Christmas treats, putting a stall out in front of their businesses and to simply create a more Christmas atmosphere around the Town.

Over 20 retailers have already said they will get involved and they are hoping others will follow suit.

The Letterkenny Chamber want to make this a night to remember and urge everyone to come a lot to this great Christmas event.

Toni Forrester CEO of the Letterkenny Chamber commented; “We are thrilled at the support this event has received from the retailers. It’s great to see Letterkenny businesses working together and long may it last. With the help and input of all the retailers we can make Letterkenny the place to be this Christmas and hopefully show this to the whole of Ireland as well.”

Along with lots of festive activities on the night the Chamber and St Vincent de Paul are holding a Christmas toy appeal.

The public are asked to donate a small unwrapped present on the night which will be given to the Saint Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. The aim of this appeal is that no child will go without a present at Christmas. The donation box will be located beside the DJ on the Market Square.

“We wanted to use our Christmas event to give something back to a local community charity and this toy appeal seemed the most apt for the time of year. We would encourage those that attend the event to please give a small gift for someone less fortunate than themselves” commented John Watson Chamber President of the Letterkenny Chamber.

All business involved will be listed on Shop LK’s facebook page and on a list given out on the night. If any businesses in the town would like to be involved on the 30th of November contact Emma on 074 9124866 or email: admin@letterkennychamber.com by then end of day on 29/11/2012.
