It’s that time of year again – just a few weeks to Christmas and a feature of life for over 40 years in the Finn Valley area has been the annual Stephen’s Day 5k.
It’s all go once again on Dec 26th @ 2pm with the local Finn Valley AC targeting 1000 to toe the line.
It is an event that has traditionally drawn close to 800 in previous years and the push is on to interest families, adults young and old to run, walk or jog.
An ocassion to meet up with many home for the festive season, have a cuppa afterwards and for many the opportunity to get out in the fresh air and go for a stroll.

Each year there has been an honorary starter for the event and previous people that have fulfilled that role have been Sinead Jennings world Scull rowing champion, Philip Deignan Olympic cyclist, local weather man Mickey the Post, Pat the Cope MEP, at that time Lord Mayor Cora Harvey amongst others.
While Olympic/World champions Mo Farah and Kenyan Vivian Cheryuiot have turned out in the past to great effect this is in every aspect a community event.
