Letterkenny has at last got good news on the job front with the announcement today that the Highland Motor Group is expanding its operations with the addition of Honda and Citroën franchises to Donegal and the North West.

The Highland Motor Group hope to create up to 10 full time jobs over the next 2 years and also give the local construction industry a much needed boost with up to 30-50 jobs in the redevelopment of the premises situated at the Mountain Top.

Honda and Citroën have a long history of success in the Northwest and are delighted to be in partnership with the Highland Motor Group.

Commenting on the return of Honda to Donegal, Adrian Cole, Managing Director of Universal Honda said: “We have always had great success and strong dealer representation for the Honda brand in Donegal.

“We look forward to returning to Letterkenny and establishing a new relationship with the Highland Motor Group at a time when we are entering an exciting growth period for Honda albeit it in a very challenging trading environment.”

Managing Director of Citroën Motors Ireland Ltd, Frédéric Soulier added “Citroën have always enjoyed loyalty from our North West customers and are delighted to be returning to Letterkenny where our new and exciting range of cars, including the premium DS Line, and wide range of commercials will be on display for all to see.

“We take this opportunity to wish our new partner Lawerence and the team every success with the Citroën brand which has enjoyed strong sales growth nationwide and we are confident that the Highland Motor Group will continue the Citroën success story in the North West.”

Lawrence Harrigan of the Highland Motor Group said: “We are delighted to secure the prestigious Honda and Citroën franchises for Donegal and look forward to bringing them back to Letterkenny where they enjoy a great following.

“Both of these car brands along with our established Renault franchise have reputations as manufacturers of daring designs and advanced technologies which have enabled them to produce engines with class leading CO2 emissions, and capabilities of achieving up to 88mpg.”

“With the Honda, Citroën and Renault brands the Highland Motor Group are now able to offer customers a fantastic range of cars and commercials, in a range of different trim levels, with low CO2 emissions and giving excellent value for money for all the needs and demands of the Donegal motoring public.

“We will continue to operate our Renault franchise from the existing premises at the Mountain Top and the Honda and Citroën Sales outlet will be situated at the Mulroy Business Park, Canal Road, Letterkenny.”

The new Honda and Citroen showrooms will open today – Saturday December 8th.
