GARDAI investigating a series of break-ins in the south of the county have arrested a suspect.

A man was held in Ballyshannon on Saturday and questioned about a burglary.

Property was recovered and the suspect taken in for questioning.

Donegal Daily understands the suspect has “previous” for similar offences in south Donegal.

“It’s important for Gardai that we can act quickly in a situation and in this situation we were able to not only detain someone but recovery stolen property,” said one source.

The latest operation in Allingham Street was as a result of a Garda operation in the area.

It’s understood Garda investigations are continuing into a series of other break-ins in Ballyshannon, Bundoran and Donegal Town.
