IT’S A part of the county always hit by power cuts on Christmas Day.
But unfortunately Christmas came early this evening for many people in the Ballyare and Ramelton areas – with a major power outage.
Homes in the area lost power for more than 40 minutes before being restored at 6.40pm.
Local people say the outage began with power being reduced so that just dim lights worked in their homes – but all other electrical appliances failed.
This was followed by a complete outage.
“We just hope this is not a sign of things to come,” said one Donegal Daily reader (via her smartphone).
Another reader complained: “This is the second time this month. Starting to worry about the Christmas dinner again. Know any hotels open?”
There were later reports that the electricity was out in Rathmullan.
