FINE GAEL, Sinn Fein and Labour councillors are opposing plans to increase rents for council tenants.

They’re speaking out against the proposed increases at County House in Lifford today where a meeting of the council is deciding on next year’s budget.

The leader of Fine Gael on the council Cllr Barry O’Neill opposed the €2 per week increase.

Sinn Fein’s Jack Murray, who had opposed the rise earlier this week, said it was “a common sense” decision.

Cllrs are hoping to spend extra money on promoting the Gathering 2013.
