Letterkenny AC will hold its annual Goal Mile Challenge at the Danny McDaid Track at the Aura Centre tonight, Friday, between 6.30 pm and 8 pm. Everyone is invited to come along and walk or run a mile for the charity organisation.

Fionnuala Diver maintained her good winter form at the weekend when she finished second woman (52nd overall) in the North West cross country championships in Derry on Saturday. The mother of two was runner-up to Gladys Ganiel O’Neill from North Belfast and can be well satisfied with her end of year performance. Paddy Ward won his age category when taking victory in the over-55 section (110th overall). Well done to both.

Also in action in Gransha in a race which attracted 224 competitors and won by City of Derry’s Declan Reed were Ciaran McBride (34th) Aidan McKenna (75th), Padraig Friel (78th), Brian McBride (153rd) and Richard Raymond (156th).

The Christmas Day run will take place at St. Conal’s/Letterkenny Town Park on Tuesday at 10.30 am. Everyone is welcome to come along and run a few miles before tucking into the turkey and ham!

The club’s next race takes place on Sunday, January 6th when it holds the New Year 5 Mile. The race has a 11 am start and registration will be taken from 10 am at the Aura Centre. Before that, runners can look forward to the Tir Chonaill AC jinglebells charity 5K this Sunday, December 23rd in Donegal Town at 11 am and the 5K at Finn Valley on St Stephen’s Day which has a 2 pm start. Lifford AC are holding a three-race series in January, so there certainly won’t be a shortage of choice in the weeks ahead.

The numbers drawn in the weekly lotto were 8, 18, 20 and 21. The four match four winners were Noel McGuigan, Martin Hunter, Paddy McIntyre and Gerry Meehan. This weekend’s jackpot will be 620 euro.
