DUBAI – DONEGAL PLAYERS WILL BE WARMING THEIR TOES IN THE HOT SANDS

THE DONEGAL players fly out on Sunday for their long-anticipated break in the sun.

And as they leave behind a county battered by storms and rain, they’ll be looking forward to temperatures in the Dubai sun of 25C – and that’s their winter!

Some Donegal stars however will be missing the Emirates flight to the sun.

Mark McHugh can’t go – because his exams start on Friday. And Paddy McBrearty will also miss the trip because of exams.

Frank McGlynn has also decided to stay at home with his wife Diane and their newborn baby.

The trip abroad is a reward for the amateur players and coaches for all their hard work throughout 2012 which included, of course, retaining the Ulster title and bringing Sam Maguire back to Donegal for the first time in 20 years.

Players will be taking their wives/partners and children for the holiday of a lifetime, returning to Ireland on Tuesday, January 8th.

“My bags are packed and I’m ready to go,” said player Daniel McLaughlin.

The players will be staying at the five-star Arabian-themed comfort at the Mövenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate.

This luxury hotel boasts private beach access on the Palm Jumeirah, beside the Dubai metro and a shopping mall, 8 restaurants and bars, 11 meeting rooms and a swimming pool.

Above this there is a kids club and spa.

As the team touches down in Dubai, Met Eireann has issued a severe weather warning for Donegal with torrential rain predicted on Sunday and Monday.
