Donegal motorists have been warned to belt up by a leading traffic cop in the county.GARDA OFFICER

The warning comes after it was revealed that the non-wearing of seat-belts was a factor in four of the seven road deaths in Donegal in 2012.

Head of the Traffic Corps in Donegal, Inspector Michael Harrison, said it was not acceptable.

Inspector Harrison pointed out that seat belt wearing has been legally compulsory for both motorists and passengers since 1993.

He said he found it both shocking and worrying that people were still driving cars without wearing safety belts.
